Bob Lustberg operator of Kohr Bros Custard on Duval St wants to set up a trampoline type display at the Pier. He explains his proposal (see attch). Wink states that a rock wall and bouncing booth were just turned down due to lack of set-up space. Board will discuss these issues later and notify Mr. Lustberg.
Robin (clown) would like to do face painting. Susanne would like to see face painting separated from Henna Tattoo especially with Fantasy Fest coming up. Wink has several people who would like to set up with face painting. Accepted at the last PC meeting were 4 people and 1 declined. Eddy makes motion to accept PC Report, Isaac seconds. Passed.
No Performers report available.
No Pier Managers report available.
Ed will contact Myron (Mike Schwartz in regards to interviewing for the PR position and invite him to the next Board meeting.
Ed says that CPS will buy the liquor for fundraiser events and 100% of the proceeds will go to CPS.
Joann Hausman would like copies of the board minutes and Ed suggests that they be handed out with the Green Flash. Sabrina tells Joann she will make sure Joann receives a copy.
New Artists that are invited to participate just for fundraiser events will need to be juried in by PC just as all artists are required. They will go through the jury process and pay the jury fee.
John and Natalie (guacamole) would like to apply for a special food location down by the Ocean Key House wall when the food spaces are full in season. Ed will contact Pretzel Ray to see if he plans to return to the pier. If not the 10th food vendor space will be given to John and Natalie. If all 10-food spaces are full the pier manager is to be advised that they can set up at the top of the first ramp.
New Business.
Holiday Craft Fair December 14. Noon –11pm at Mallory Pier.
Outside vendors will be invited but must be juried in by PC. No liquor license will be applied for but special Christmas drinks and homemade edible goods made by our members should be sold. Ask for volunteers.
Marion would like to have a permanent handicapped space assigned to her down by OJ Dave. The board agrees that any permanent assignments should be close to the parking lot so the member does not have far to walk. Pete will need to notify Marion that she needs to petition the board for a permanent position. Wink says there is no legal recourse for anyone to sue us because we are not an employer and we are a non- profit organization.
Meeting with Cuban American Heritage Festival Committee on Oct 2 re: Summer Solstice. It will be a joint festival between CAHF and CPS. All efforts are being done on both parts to work together to insure this a joint success. We are waiting for their board decision re our proposition. Our Board has agreed that we are not willing to pay for the parking fees lost due to the closure of the parking lot. The parking lot is used by CAHF for their concert. We are already giving up space on the pier and relocating our artists to different areas of the plaza. Myra Hernandez had suggested that CPS split the parking fees with CAHF.
Proposal for the trampoline by Mr. Lustberg- After lengthy discussion the Board feels that it is much too large a display for our area. Isaac makes a motion that we don’t allow the trampoline, Greg seconds. Passed
Isaac requests to add video capture and make photographs from these videos. His request is denied at this time due to the fact that we do not accept video capturing as photography. Photos must be taken with a camera by the person approved to sell them.
A letter needs to be sent to Jack and Candy asking them to reappear before PC and bring their actual
Photos and any negatives showing how they produced their photos. Ed makes motion that Jack and Candy be rejuried by PC regarding all existing photography. Jan seconds. Passed. The board doesn’t feel we were completely informed of the situation involving Jack and Candy when we opened up the photography category for them.
Wink suggests discussing caps vs. no caps at the next general membership meeting. This will be added to the agenda for that meeting scheduled for September 25th. Wink says PC is trying to maintain an equal balance of items displayed on the pier.
g) Anne asks for copies of “Digital Committee Report”. This will also be discussed at
next general membership meeting.
.
Isaac asks for a Profit and Loss statement to be brought to the next General Membership meeting.
Ed will supply us with the P & L for all of 2002.
