Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 1:32 PM. by Chairman Isaac Valdes.

Secretaries Report – Read by all. Don motions to accept, Sharona seconds. Passed.

Treasurer’s Report – No Report.

PC Report- No Report. No quorum, so no meeting. Complaint from paper hat guy. (Tabled)

Performer Report – Jeep reads minutes, Don motions to accept minutes, Will seconds, passed. See attached Performer report.

Susanne speaks about anger management for pier manager. Decision made to leave things they way they are and move on.

Chris speaks on Marks behalf. Questions if Mark should have been suspended w/out himself filing a complaint. Chris is informed that it is at the pier manager’s discretion to issue suspensions.

Rex explains that Mark was suspended for starting his show 10 minutes before the neighboring show in the plaza (Chris & Amy), finished. Mark has been known to do this in the past.

Rex states that he had just closed up the kiosk and was on his way to his car when he heard loud voices (Chris & Mark) arguing in the plaza with tourist in the area. They were arguing because Mark started his show during Chris and Amy’s show.

Mark states “lies, lies nothing but a bag of lies”.

Susanne states that Rex was yelling at her when this incident took place.

Sabrina states that Susanne called her at home and said there was a problem at the pier. Susanne told Sabrina that Mark did indeed start his show during Chris and Amy’s and he was saying that 2 artists asked him to start. Susanne told Sabrina that Mark was “stretching the truth” and no artists asked him to begin his show.

Susanne says no I did not say that to Sabrina (She later recants to the whole membership saying she was wrong and she did remember telling Sabrina by phone of the incident and that Mark had lied about being told by 2 artists to begin his show.

Michael Patrick states that it has been a continuing issue of Mark overrunning other performers shows.

Mark states “lies” again.

Pat ( painting artist) states that while Mark was on suspension and working at the Hilton He came on CPS property and tried to call a crowd to the Hilton then verbally abused the pier and some of the CPS members.

Conch Fritter Mike states “Mark was heckling CPS from the Hilton and from Mallory property

Our Cat Guy states Mark was heckling him & CPS from the Hilton and Mallory property.

Don S. states that there have only been 2 other people in our organization to stand at the Hilton and heckle us. And that they are no longer with CPS.

Mark apologizes for heckling from the Hilton.

Mark says there are a lot of people lying.

Sabrina states that Mark told her he went to the base player in Rex’s band and had a talk with him about Rex.

Mark states “lies again”.

Don says it’s strange that so many people are lying and that they’re different people over the years.

Don states that continued drama must stop or we need to get rid of the problem (Mark).

Wink asks exactly what is Mark being put on probation for. It is explained to Wink that Mark is being put on probation for continued bad behaviors including disrespect to the Pier Manager Rex, not obeying CPS rules by being on Mallory Pier during suspension and heckling from the Hilton.

Isaac asks about seniority

Don states that seniority applies to the pier only, the plaza is for overflow only.

Will motions for a 30 day suspension and a one-year probation for Mark Riggs, Sabrina seconds, Discussion. Will rescinds his motion.

Will motions a one-year probation for Mark Riggs with the stipulation that the next step is expulsion from CPS and the Sunset Celebration at Mallory pier, Sabrina seconds the motion, passed 3 to 1.

The 5-minute rule is in effect in the plaza only, until the Mallory begins to fill up for “season” (roughly January). At that time the 5-minute rule is no longer in effect until “season ends (roughly May). The Board will have this item on the agenda to be voted on at the General Membership Meeting. If it is passed it will be taken to the City.

Pier Manager Report-

Amy says she and Chris are grateful to Rex for working with them.

Will states that pier manager job needs the support of the Board.

Don motions to put Rex on probation for 30 days. Sharona seconds. Opposed.

Rex resigns. Will Soto motions not to accept Rex’s resignation. Sabrina seconds. Passed. Rex stays.

Don motions to accept Pier Manager’s Report. Will seconds. Passed.

Old Business- Don says Bay Bottom Lease was sent to Tallahassee unchanged. Meeting Adjourned.
