Board of Directors Meeting

In attendance: Sue Schall, Christine Bivens, Don Sullivan, Elise Scott, Danielle Wittler, Dominique, Lee Anne McCarthy.

  1. Additions to Agenda:

A. Moving members up in regular bucket, Shawn, Dolly, Danielle and Aaron. Rebecca’s days will be counted also.

  1. Advertising opportunity with Gallery Guide.

Approval of Agenda: Motioned by Don, 2nd by Elise.

  1. Reports:

  1. Secretary’s Report: (including the minutes). Motion to accept by Don, 2nd by Elise.

  2. Treasurer’s Report: Motion to accept Lee Anne, 2nd by Elise.

  3. Participation Committee: Six members were in attendance Jeffrey, Eddy, Ron, Dragana, Melanie, and Harriet. There were ten new applicants.

  1. Thys Vanbourgondien was approved for his epoxied stone and or shell picture frames, plant posts, cups, and such. He backs the frames with Masonite and uses glass fronts and wire hangers.

  2. Donna Johnson was approved for her hand painted kids clothing for kids from `2 months to 12 years. She makes dresses, jumpers, and similar and hand paints characters of her own designs and outlines them in a raised black bead.

  3. Kelly Taylor was approved for her recycled wallets, dog leashes, collars, poop bag holders, card holders, and collapsible water bowls all of which she makes from recycled bicycle inner tubes. She was informed that she could not offer or display bracelets of any kind.

  4. Robert Mathison was approved as Hector’s partner to make names on shells. He demonstrated the technique and expressed his intent to expand into more artistic areas as well as do on site custom orders.

  5. Gail Gordon was approved for her bags and purses with embroidered designs which she buys from and Indian church in Panama then sews them into the bags which she creates. Then she sends back all the proceeds to the church so that she is then a special category in the spirit of sunset.

  6. Gregory Quinonek was approved for his wood scroll saw cut outs of pictures or logos of a customer’s choice. Some are religious, some are team logos, some are flowers, etc.

  7. John Graffeo was approved for his flavored iced latte’s pending health department approvals and cart approval. He offers a chilled espresso with ice, caramel, chocolate, or coconut chocolate. He uses all top shelf ingredients and we wish him success, as long as he can meet all the other requirements. Does the board have any issues with this?

  8. Debra Graffeo was approved for her glass art on two mediums-one is designs attached to a colored bamboo plate which is then decorated with flower patterns and such and also does wooden ovals which she paints and then affixes the glass to and glues a rope edge around it. These are both displayed in either plate holders or suspended with wire hangers.

  9. Paula Jora and Alejandra Galleguilles were approved as partners for their hand painted plates that are used either for decoration or for eating on. Plates are hand painted then oven baked. They will offer to do custom work and can do orders on site.

  10. Melanie and George Beckman were approved for their homemade soaps with many different flavors all homemade either vegetarian or not.

  11. Robert Neidler was approved for his all natural b oats made from dried palm seed pods, with or without sails and some is hand painted.

Lastly two things- first we ask that the pier managers carry their phones on the pier and their numbers be posted so we can contact them quickly on busy nights rather than searching through the crowds for them. Second we ask that the board please consider reducing the set-up fee for at least August, September and October and if we can’t do $10.00what about $12.00. Motion to approve Don, 2nd by Lee Anne.

  1. Pier Managers Report: Moved Shawn, Dolly, Danielle and Aaron to snowbird in waiting and regular. A disagreement between Jonathan and Pete (new guy with boat) regarding the size of boat. The electric is out on the ramps. I will call public works. Annie. Motion to approve by Don, 2nd by Lee Anne.

  2. Performers Report: none given.

Old Business: No bike week event.

New Business: Advertising in the Gallery Guide for $350.00. Elise and Don putting a proposal together for TDC. Christine made motion to spend $350.00 on advertisement with Gallery Guide. 2nd by Danielle. Motion passed.
