Minutes from August 1, 2011. In attendance: Jeffrey, Eddy, Ron, Dragana, Melanie and Harriett. 1) Jelena Kapparova was approved for her leaded soderd stainglass in catchers and candle holders (round and square). 2). Jeffrey is asking to add on his other recycled art pieces, namely magnets and hat pins made from scrap aluminum cans and glued to a foam and then a backing magnet or pin is affixed. These can then be used as magnet or attached to a hat or other clothing item. The decision on this is still pending.
Pier Managers Report: I am happy to say that several of the technical problems we have encountered in the lst several weeks have been resolved; the city has managed to repair most of the broken electrical outlets on the ramps, and even started fixing the loose boards at the south end by the bridge to the Weston. We still have several lights that aren’t workingm and m as usual, the timing of the lights is off by about half an hour, but has been reported and I suppose will get fixed soon enough. Otherwise, as we know , things have been about average business wise out there. Our several newest participants have showed up briefly, usually on retty slow nights, which is unfortunate. Shawn and Dolly have moved up a bucket. As far as performers there haven’t been many lately; the summer doldrums have set in early. There’s been a fair number of musician, but not enough to require that we make a shared space more than a couple of times. We did have a problem with performer Toh, who set up to work without lottery, then as he always doesm proceeded to wander frely all over the north end. Because he had been previously laid off for one and three days, andd managed to get himself banned from the alley for disrespecting the theather, he was giben the maximum punishment before total banishment. That is six days off. He knows perfectly well his next infraction will result in permanent suspension, and it is my hope this will sober his attitude about working well with our rules. On a personal note I have a complaint about my co worker Annie. I understand she likes to take care of animals, and I guess this is usually harmless enough, but I have a very strong objection to her having made a chicken a permanent fixture in the kiosk. It has shitted freely on paperwork, on my cell phone, on the credit card processing machinem and basically has managed to stink up the place. Annie apperars unaware of the odor, and I would guess that’s because she smokes. I can smell it and it offends me. This is a basic health hazard and I strongly object. I would like it chased out and kept out. This is not a request, friends I want it to be done. Thanks.
