Participation Committee Meeting

January 15, 2007

Attending: Mike L. Barb W. Elaine D. Ann S. MeikeHector

The meeting was called to order at 10:10 a.m. in Bayview Park.  We had six applicants show up for new products and three participants for add-a-product. We also had one mail in application and an e-mail from a performer wanting information.

Elaine collected $100.00 in jury fees and turned the money over to Mike L.

 1.                  Vincent Briguccia applied to sell mixed media collage designs, original and                print work, edgy sculpture, pen and ink designs on canvas and other media.

He was approved for the above by unanimous vote.

2.                   Mitzi Swatzell applied to sell polymer clay pins and tie tacks, chess sets with painted chess board and individual pieces of polymer clay figures.   She was advised that she was not allowed to do any jewelry products.

She was approved by unanimous vote.

3.                   Tami Hill applied to sell hand made handbags.  She uses a brass frame that she buys and adds her hand sewn purse to the frame.

She was approved by unanimous vote.

4.                   Dian Marshall applied to sell glamouratures “The flattering caricatures” on canvas or paper done with a sharpie pen.

She was approved by unanimous vote.

5.                   Joan Bernstein applied to do massage therapy.

She was approved by unanimous vote.

6.                   A man from Texas arrived and wanted to do toe rings.  We advised him that the jewelry category was closed.

Denied.

7.                   Robert Young sent his wife in with an additional product application.  He wishes to do wine glass charms made on earring wires with beads and shells that he drills holes in.   He also wants to make and sell wine racks made from copper.  It was discussed and decided that when he juries for the wine racks he will be allowed to sell the charms.

He was approved pending the jurying of his wine rack.  He cannot sell charms until them.  This was a unanimous vote.

8.                   Jan Nelson applied to add sausage with baked dough wrapped around them.  She was asked if she had approval from the Department of Agriculture and she advised she did. She also was asked if she had a current food handler’s license and she stated that she did have one. She will make and prepare the items at her commissary and bring them to the pier and have them in a warming box to maintain the safe temperatures required on food.

She was approved by unanimous vote.

9.                   Willie Williams applied to paint small quick caricatures of people using acrylics, pen and pencil for tips. If they want bigger pictures he will charge a fee for those.  He also will draw pictures of various places in Key West, have them printed on post card size paper and then add a caricature to this.

He was approved unanimously.

10.               We had one application mailed to us.  Ray Fitrano and Carlo Guadangno applied to sell candles and incense.  Pictures were included along with a $5.00 application fee. After a discussion was held it was decided that there was not enough artistic work involved in the process.  They were denied by unanimous vote based on the fact that they look to commercial and do not have enough creativity for our art show.  A letter will be written by Barb W. and signed by Mike L. to be sent to them along with their check.

Mike L. gave Ann Summers $100.00 in cash to be deposited with the nightly deposit.  She will write a receipt to the PC for attachment to the minutes.

The meeting was adjourned.
