Participation Committee Meeting

March 5, 2007

Attending:  Mike L.   Hector G.   Meike G.   Elaine D.    Ann S.  Barb W.    Melainie G.

The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. in Bayview Park.

Bushi Zimple came to demonstrate how he made the items we turned down at a previous meeting.  He prints the pictures on an adhesive paper and puts them on small wooden frames and on magnets.  We all agree that these are indeed handmade and he is approved to sell them

Jay Kerven came to inquire about starting a food booth at Mallory.  He was previously juried in for one but had some difficulties and could not continue his operation. He is now ready to begin again.  He was advised to bring a menu down to PC on what he wants to sell and we will give preliminary approval for him becoming a food participant.  After that he will buy his cart, get it approved by the Department of Business and Professional Regulations, bring it to PC to jury and we will give final approval.  He was advised of the space requirements for his cart.

After the participants left we held discussions on many matters.  The matter of jurying in new jewelry items was first.  It was decided that due to the poor nature of our economy right now we will close the jewelry category indefinitely unless the product is truly unique, one of a kind type of jewelry.  Ann will instruct the pier managers to tell anyone wishing to jury for jewelry that the category is closed.   We took a vote and it was unanimous for the above discussion.

Mike will not be able to attend the Board meeting on Wednesday as he will be out of town so Barbara will go and give the PC report.

Other items of discussion were varied, mostly about products on the pier, new food items, etc.  Nothing was finalized.

 Adjourned meeting at 10:45 a.m.
