Minutes of meeting

May 21, 2007

Present:

Mike L.     Meike G.     Hector G.     Barb W.       Melaine G.

The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. in Bayview Park.  We had four new applicants.

The first applicant was Stacy Amos Holden.  Stacy brought a few of her original paintings, some prints and some framed pieces.  She demonstrated her painting to us using water colors.  She paints in a variety of mediums and styles.  Stacy was accepted for her paintings and prints, she will make her own mats.  Stacy was told prior to being juried that she cannot paint typical key west paintings such as local scenery and beaches.  She was approved for her other style of paintings by unanimous vote.  Stacy paid her $20.00 fee.

Michael Schuster was the second applicant.  He applied to sell Driftwood Furniture/Home décor.  He sculpted on some driftwood, explained how he would shape the pieces, sand and varnish each piece.  He will add shells and other items to enhance his pieces.  Mike was accepted by unanimous vote.  Mike paid his $20.00 jury fee.

Richard Hatch came to show the work his 11 year old son creates and wants to sell on the pier.  Richard did not want to take his son out of school for the jury process so he was advised to bring the products for all of the PC member to examine.  Hector G. and Mike L. will home jury him this week. His product consists of wire that is soldered into figures of various items.  He also makes little signs from his work.  He was approved by a unanimous vote pending a successful home jury.  Richard paid the $20.00 fee.

Gary Muzechuk was our fourth and last applicant.  Gary wants to sell his original (2-dimensional) art and prints of his work.  He was advised that we have a cap on Key West type of art work, consisting of Key West local scenery and beaches.  He advised that he did many styles of paintings.  We watched him do a small part of a painting, and he showed us an original and a print.  After much discussion the PC members decided that we needed to see him actually paint something from scratch.  Barb W. will call and ask him to come to the next jury to perform a little more painting to satisfy the PC committee.

Mike L. gave Barb W. the minutes from the prior PC.  Barb was out of town and did not attend that meeting.  Mike asked Barb to type up the minutes in a more structured fashion.

Ann S. showed up for PC but was in pain from an infected thumb.  She was advised to go to the doctor and was excused from PC.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
