Minutes for August 2, 2010

Present: Barb W., Melanie G., Trish P., Ed W., Jan N Excused: Ron A and Leeanne M.

We had one new product to jury and one add a product. Carols & Polricica Campuzauo applied for Fake Food and drink products. Items are made from polymer with coloring added. These can be used for centerpieces and decorations. This will be a partnership. Approved by unanimous vote. Jury fee of $20.00 collected.

Trish Pleasant applied for an add a product. Under the 1/3 rule she will buy pre-cut shapes and will then shape and color them for her jewelry line. Approved by unanimous vote. Trish abstained. No fee collected for an add a product.

The committee discussed the following issues and will bring them to the Board for approval.

1. Re-jury request from Susan Schaal due to malicious gossip about her not making her product. The PC decided to decline the re-jury request since we do not have a oral or written complaint against her. Therefore we will take no action.

2. Ask the Board to contact the City and inquire about the rocks that were supposed to be put in the tree area behind the pier. It is very dirty as it is now and we would like to have them complete the project as it was originally planned.

3. Ask the Board to consider eliminating our vendors and artists from setting up in front of the benches as we did when they were first put in. We have heard a number of our members telling the tourists that they have to move and some in a not very nice way. These were originally put in for the tourists to set on, not for us to use. If the Board does not agree we would like the Board to instruct the Pier Managers to tell all of the artists and vendors that those spaces are smaller than six by eight and if they don’t fit, don’t pick that spot.

4. We would also like to have the Board ask the City if the artists and vendors could set up at noon during the time frame of Christmas to Easter. If the City would allow this again we would do this on a first come, first serve basis. All members, including the early set up’s would lottery for space at the regular lottery time each day.

5. The PC has also discussed the growing problem of members getting their displays too big for the space allotted by our rules. The PC is going to issue a reminder in writing to all members advising them to follow the SOP’s regarding their spaces for set up. We will ask the Pier Managers to keep an eye out and if the participants do not follow the reminders we would like to have the Board advise the Pier Managers to send the participants home and give them a suspension. We are getting a lot of complaints about this issue and would like the Board to help up get things back in order. This is a problem that should be handled by the Pier Managers. We ask the Board to back us up on this problem. Attached is a copy of the reminder we would like to have printed and handed out to all members.

6. Ann Summers has asked if we could have some information printed out regarding the PC meetings. She has a lot of people inquiring and this would make it easier if she could just hand them a slip of paper with all the info on it. Attached is a copy of what we would like to have printed.
