We had three add a products, one performer and five new participants to jury today.

1,Stephen Dickstein (food) applied to add Italian Ice to his menu. Mr Dickstein called the members of the committee over to have a sample of his product. He told the members that he bought the mix and proceeded to serve samples from that container. After a discussion the PC decided that the item was to similar to other items currently being sold on the pier and that he did not make the product. A vote was taken and it was unanimous for denial.

(After being advised that he was not accepted he asked Barb what he could do the appeal the decision. Barb advised him of the step he needed to make an appeal).

2.Wendel Winko applied to add knife and scissor sharpening to his list of juried items. He demonstrated to the committee by sharpening two knives with the tools he will be using on the Pier. After a brief discussion a vote was taken and he was approved by a vote of 6 in favor and one abstaining.

He was told that he would need to get a Florida State Sales Tax License before he could begin selling his items but that he could begin performing anytime he wishes. All of the above applicant are not required to pay a jury fee, therefore, not money was collected from them.

5.Stephanie Clark applied to sell Bath and Body products. She demonstrated how she makes her product to the PC. A question arose with one member thinking that she would need some type of license to sell these product. Barb was asked to make inquiries prior to giving her approval to sell. Barb called the Department of Agriculture and the told her that no license from them was required but she might want to check with the health department. Barb called the health department and spoke with Sherry. Barb explained the questions, Sherry checked with her Supervisor and was told that no license is needed for these items. Stephanie was approved by a 5-2 vote. A $20.00 jury fee was collected in cash.

9.JoAnne Edalgo Deck applied for “Tye one on”. It is a sarong that is placed into a plastic bottle that she decorates with sea shells, raffia and a custom label. She explained that she purchased most of her sarongs from other people or commercially. She had previously e-mail the PC and in the response that PC gave her she was told that she would have to bring her sewing machine and make her product in front of the committee. She did not come prepared to do this. She was told at the meeting that she will have to return at the next PC meeting and bring her sewing machine with her and actually make her product in front of the committee. She will be listed as “Pending” until she returns. A $20.00 jury fee was collected by check. No vote was taken and no discussions took place since she had not produced her item for PC.

A total of $100.00 dollars was collected. Mel G. took possession of the funds to be given to the Pier Manager and a receipt for the funds issued to the PC.

The committee has some complaints that were discussed. A number of the members of the committee want letters sent to the following people:

Elaine DelPino-She purchases her mattes but does not embellish them in any way. This is against our S.O.P.'s. Elaine has been spoken to by many PC Committees in the past so the committee decided a letter was in order.

Harriett Vaughn-She also purchases her mattes but does not embellish them in any way. The committee felt that a letter was in order.

Aaron Feldspar-He was asked two time to return to the PC Committee with his camera so the committee could verify that he does take his photos. He was given three weeks to comply but did not show up for the meeting today. He was called and asked to come to the meeting but he again stated that he did not have his camera. It is in North Carolina. We have had numerous complaints, catalogs with pictures of work that looks like his and internet sites found to have pictures that look like his. We asked that he bring his camera and card so that we could verify that he took his photos. The committee discussed this after the meeting and decided that a letter was needed. He has been given until the next PC meeting to come into compliance. If he does not, the PC will ask that he not be allowed to set up until he does come into compliance.

Szilvia Pivarcsi-Sziliva presented a drawing of her cart when she was juried in and that drawing was approved by the PC. When she arrived at Mallory Square to set up, her cart did not look anything like the design she presented to the PC. The PC is going to give her 30 days to get her cart looking like the drawing she presented to us. If she does not come into compliance she will not be allowed to set up after the 30 days until the cart is in compliance with her drawings.

The committee asked Barb to write the letters. And give them to the Pier Manager for distribution.
