PC Minutes of 4-4-11

Five members were present: Jeffrey , Eddy, Ron, Melanie and Harriet.

Five new applicants and one add on –partner were in attendance.

However the add on partner was not prepared to demonstrate their craft by the new partner so much to their chagrin they will have to return.

  1. Pete Davidson was unanimously approved for his wood carvings of island found dead wood mahogany, that he hand carves into conch shells and uses all natural ingredients-no chemicals –just wax as a finish.

  2. Nancy Botts was also unanimously approved for her mosaic work. Mostly broken stained glass from recycled stained glass that she affixes to various glass jars and such to make mosaics which range from candle holders, lanterns to windows and door sidelights. She then grouts them with colored grout and the finished products re beautiful and what we feel would be a crafty art needed at the pier.

  3. Fred and C.J Groul(?) were unanimously approved for their matted photography from mostly Key West scenes and houses. C.J is well known in town and has a good reputation and professionalism that we feel would be wonderful at the pier.

  4. She has her work on display at the airport as well as is affiliated with the Guild Hall and has a website. She was told however that we would have to check out the cap on photography and that that would be the only possible problem other than her also providing us with a disc of her work from her camera.

  5. Joe and Ozlem Berg demonstrated their chocolate dipped frozen bananas and plan to offer them using toppings as an add on. We sampled their product and they were tasty though quite messy. The store bought chocolate is melted in a large crock pot and the pre-frozen bananas are then dipped in the chocolate and offered to the customer. They are aware that the food vendor approval is part of a 3 step process and are planning to submit a final design for a cart. Then we can move on to the other steps concerning health certificates, licensing and such.
