PC Minutes of 9-19-11
Six members were present at the meeting: Jeffrey, Eddie, Ron, Melanie, Dragana and Harriet
Five new applications and one add on were in attendance.
1) Danielle Wittler was approved with an add on for handmade tutu's., She cuts, ties and glues the fabrics then adds bling such as feathers and sequins. They are probably seasonal but regardless seem to be a terrific extension of her couture expertise.
2) Leslie Allen was unanimously approved for her stained glass sculptures. She uses shunt and flat glass pieces assembled using a copper foil method with a lead solder. Her main pieces are mermaids, starfish, turtles and stars and often include a small vial that can be filled with sand or ocean water or whatever one might want to remember the trip and art by.
3) Bill Roswell was unanimously approved for his enhanced photo art. His work is all done digitally and enhanced thru various programs and addons.
4) Swannie Moore was unanimously approved for her hand painted shells. Using mainly clam shells she hand paints figures and or scenes on each shell. They are simple, small, cute and original and should be a great addition to the pier.
5) Allison Duffy was unanimously approved for her hand painted and Mosaic decorated fencepost boards. Using these recycled fence materials and or plywood cut outs she paints and mosaics mermaids, turtles fish and such. A lot of the mermaids happen to be pregnant, as she is,and the final pieces are original colorful and unique in the way she mixes her mediums of paints and Mosaic. She also does mosaiced belt buckles on stainless plate, and we welcome her talent to the pier
6) Brigid Coughlin was unanimously approved for her batiked and dyed/painted mainly children's clothes. Hats, pants, hoodies, skirts etc are all batikef and painted, washed and rewashed then presented for sale. She uses her own style if batik and has been at her craft for twenty some years. We welcome her talents and her attitude to the pier. By the way she happens to be Allison's mom(#5).
7) By way of mail we unanimously approved Jere Steele to do book signings on the the pier on a temporary basis as an artist. Jere is a professor at a college in northern Florida and his book (thus his art-his creativity) is called smugglers of Mallory square and our feeling is that it would be welcome and appropriate. He has asked for space for one week in November only
_8) Melanie Marsh showed up very late(11:45) with a addon request to her already approved seat covers but was told tharlt she would need to return in two weeks at the appropriate time to be considered.
Lastly I was asked by eddy to add the following items to the minutes apparently for later discussion
A)that the chairman of the board requests all PC members to be present at the next board meeting 9-21-11
