Participation Committee Meeting Minutes

Members Present:  Ryan Stimers, Hector Godoy, LeeAnne McCarthy, Linda McCall

Absent:  Ron Augustine

Meeting commenced 10:00 a.m.

Dan Linehan:  Detailed ink drawings   Portfolio of original works reviewed.  Dan started a small drawing for us to observe.  Intention to sell prints and some originals.  Discussed the mat requirements with him, if he chooses to mat the prints at a later time.

PC Vote:  YES

Steve Humphrey: Hand constructed clocks with “5oclock somewhere theme”  Demonstrated construction of box frame housing clock components.  Painted the box frame for us.  Steve created unique label using vintage (pre 1900) clock advertisement which is put on back of clock.  Front of clock has “5s” for all time increments.  Uses a photograph of rooster on some and a photoshopped Southernmost Point buoy.  Installs clock movement and assembles together.

PC Vote:  YES

Beth Leonard:  Jewelry – earrings, bracelets and necklaces.  Mixed media art   Brought samples.  Assembled jewelry product.  While beads are unique, no component of the jewelry is hand made.  Unable to demonstrated the mixed media.  PC advised her to bring that back to next PC meeting for consideration.

PC Vote:  NO

Noelle Intrato:  Slumped bottles, suncatchers, spoon rests, magnets, pendants.  Discussion by PC on slumped bottles meeting, or not meeting, originality, SOPs, etc.  Ultimate decision was to split approval of her juried products. 

            PC Vote:  No to slump bottles.  Not original, not unique as presented.  YES to other items.
